I'm Roland Ehnstrom 26 years old from Norrtälje just north of Stockholm Sweden.
I have a Master's Degree in Philosophy but driving is more fun so I work as a taxi driver... My free time involves sim racing and... sim racing!
Team position
Currently I race GTR and help set up the team's beautiful GT cars. I am also looking with interest at GT Legends while still keeping an eye on the upcoming rFactor mods.
Sim Racing Portfolio
The first "Sim" I drove was probably Papyrus Indianapolis 500 on my Amiga back in 1990 or so. I then got Crammond's F1GP and drove that a lot. When I got a PC I tested Indy Car Racing II but didn't like it that much for some reason so I got into Grand Prix 2 instead.
We're now up to the year 1997 and that's when I discovered the internet and started competing with Grand Prix 2 in "hotlap" competitions and later in offline leagues. By this time I started realizing I actually had a talent for sim racing and I started practicing in more organized ways and also joined my first sim racing team: Karjala Racing.
Early in 1999 I swapped to Grand Prix Legends and had a couple of very busy years of online racing in many many leagues.
In 2001 with the release of NASCAR Racing 4 I went into NASCAR racing and later the Trans-Am mod. In late 2004 I started racing GTR.
Over the years I have participated in almost a dozen Swedish LAN events racing GPL Trans-Am and GTR and in one European GPL LAN in Amsterdam back in 2001.
I have also spent a lot of time building tracks first for Grand Prix 2 and then for Grand Prix Legends.
Opinion
When writing this in late 2005 I am currently finishing my second season in the Comet GTR Series. After finishing second in my first season of this league a mere 3 points behind Greger Huttu my one and only goal for this season has been to win the championship. And so far it is looking very good indeed!
Next year - 2006 - is still a big unknown. I don't know which sim I'll race but probably it will be GTR GTL and perhaps later GTR2. Neither do I know which leagues I'll race in. I may do a third season in Comet or perhaps go for a season in the Sim-Challenge GTR World Championships. Also "in real life" I am planning to start my own taxi business in 2006 so for a while at leastmy free time for sim racing will be substantially reduced.
